OLD! Edwards Fire Alarm Heat Detector and Standard Circle Pull station

A early 1970′s EDWARDS bell type thermal fire sensor (heat detector) still in service, and a (again early 1970′s) Standard circular style pull station. There is also an unknown brand piezo buzzer& flasher alarm in the video.

My elementary and Intermediate schools also had these but they were also branded Simplex. Which makes sense because these systems were installed around the same time ~early 1970s. Sadly most of these have been torn out for the photoelectric/ electronic/ piezo/ strobe systems- you can’t beat the classics though! We actually have a building on my campus that has non-ADA compliant Edwards single 12″ bells without strobes which is odd to see now adays.- Thanks for watching!

I’ve seen those heat detectors before. Chemtronics actually makes them, but many companies rebranded them, including Edwards, Gamewell, Standard Electric Time, Fire-Lite, Simplex and several others. Several of my schools had those same heat detectors (mostly the Simplex version.)
That alarm pictured is an Edwards/EST horn/strobe, pre-Integrity model. My college also has a few old Standard pulls too (they used to have more, but now they mostly have newer Faraday, Notifier and Fire-Lite products.)

That is so cool!- I am a big fan of vintage Simplex equipment. Hope you kept the two bells to. LOL! What did you replace the old system with?

At my building, when I bought it 2 years ago with my dad we had to take down the whole fire system (I know how to install) and I installed the new ones. The old simplex system consisted of the panel (heavy as hell) 60 vibraphones and 2 bells. Plus the heat detecters. I still own the panels and the horns . Quality stuff
